These Are a few of My Favorite Things

We watched Sound of Music last night and the Favorite Things song has been running through my head ever since 🙂 I realized that I haven’t yet shared the items I contributed to our amazing basket (that someone is going to win in just a few short days!). When I considered what I wanted to put in, I thought about the things that make my little heart dance with joy. And the first thing that popped into my head (well aside from books 😉 ) was…office supplies 😀

Oh, how I love office supplies! Pens, paper clips, push pins, and most especially really cute sticky notes and note paper! I’ve also always had a major love of fleur-de-lis, damask prints, scrollwork, and anything that looks vaguely Celtic. So I found several office supply items that I kind of had a hard time parting with to be a part of our giveaway basket.

I also have a slightly more expensive love – jewelry 😀 Which is actually a bit odd because I don’t wear it much. My tastes are very eclectic and run from antique cameos to more modern twisty metal concoctions. But as our blog focuses a bit more on the historical, I sent along a beautiful cameo necklace that I hope our winner will love as much as I do 🙂

And now, I must spend the day in a flurry of sugar cookie baking for kids’ holiday parties and Santa bread for the neighbors. There are few things that say HOLIDAY to me more than the smell of sugar cookies and my mom’s dough recipe 🙂 One whiff and it feels like home again 🙂 It just wouldn’t feel like Christmas without the smell of that bread baking.

Santa Bread

I could spend all day (and a whole lot of money) stocking up on office supplies 😀 Speaking of which, I’m low on sticky notes and the kids have lost most of my pens. I think trip to Staples is in order 😀 Merry Christmas!

My favorite holiday treat is butter tarts. They’re a Canadian specialty–I’ve never seen them anywhere but in Canada–and they’re incredibly yummy. However, I don’t want to think about them this year because they’re an absolute no-no while I’m on a low-carb diet. Sigh.

LOL that’s actually a very large hunk of bread 😀 It’s my mom’s roll recipe but I just shape it to look like Santa. It’s about the size of a cookie sheet. So yummy!

I love office supplies!! Vera Bradley makes a line of office things that I love. There’s nothing more satisfying then dressing up boring legal documents with a pink paisley binder clip!

Ha! You just describe me in your post above! Except I do wear that eclectic jewelry although only in special occasions LOL
Cookies and shopping are my holiday-must haves. I just learned how to make Pecan Sandies, guess what I’ll be making every year for Christmas from now on? 😉
