Summer Reading . . . and Eating!

Shady Summer ChairsIt’s nearly the 4th of July and that often feels like summer is slipping away. Before the nights get cool, take some time and enjoy the season!

Find a lounge or a hammock in some shade, where the sun peeks through the trees every now and again. Mix a Lemonade or an Iced Tea and pour yourself a tall glass over crushed ice. Smell some honeysuckle or the neighbor’s burgers on the grill or roses that have just bloomed.

Let the human sounds fade and listen for a bird chirping or a bee buzzing or the leaves as a breeze rustles them overhead. Open up a new book, maybe by a new author, or in a genre yoLemonade Summeru don’t often read. Try a book by one of the wonderful authors here at Embracing Romance and let yourself be carried away to a pirate ship or a harem or the prairie or a drawing room.

And in honor of the season I’ve got to post
my Red, White, and Blue Dessert recipe. It’s a summertime favorite and a wonderful cool treat for a hot summer day!Fourth of July Dessert

Lovely post, Holly. I want to jump right into that picture and settle in on that deck with a good book. 🙂

You can come over anytime, Gina! I’m writing a sequel to Train Station Bride and it’s going well! Thanks! And you?

People ask me every year for that recipe – if you can’t make the print big enough to read, let me know, I’ll send you the PDF. It is the most wonderful summer dessert ever!
