What’s on Your Bucket List?

I don’t have a formal bucket list written anywhere, but there are definitely some things I want to do, and with each passing year, I think of more. A few of the items are to attend a masquerade ball, ride the Orient Express, and attend the New Year’s Eve celebration in Times Square in New York. Last year at this time, I crossed one item off my list: attending the Fourth of July Celebration on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

I received my undergraduate degree from The George Washington University, which of course is in Washington, but I was never there during the summer so I wasn’t able to attend the celebration. I’m ashamed to say we also lived in the D.C. area for more than ten years, but didn’t manage to make it downtown on the fourth for one reason or another. So last summer, I finally talked the family into going.

D.C. Fireworks
Fireworks behind the Washington Monument (it looks a bit wonky because it’s covered in scaffolding).

We had a wonderful time exploring the city and watching the fireworks. If you’ve never been there, I highly recommend exploring the National Mall at night. The monuments are amazing.

This spring I was able to cross off another item on my list: becoming a published author. Now all I need to do is make the New York Times bestseller list.

So what’s on your bucket list? Have you crossed anything off yet?
