I’m happy to share the first installment of my new novella series, Wanted by the Warrior…
Lady Sophia Camerot desperately tries to behave, but simply can’t follow the rules. After a stranger saves her life, she suspects her champion is from another place. And to make matters worse, despite the political ramifications of her refusal to marry the man her father handpicked, she prays for another chance meeting with her hero.
Prince Victor Allain is the notorious heir to the Solfine throne, the last line of defense against an envious world that wants nothing more than to purge Europe of pagans.
Unable to resist his attraction for Sophia, he risks everything to possess her.
Hunted by enemies for breaking the law, Victor and Sophia must outmaneuver their rivals to protect Victor’s country from destructive alliances.
Having reached their destination, Victor and Dagar tethered their horses to an oak tree. They stood near an ancient stone house. Every year Dagar insisted on coming here—a school for orphaned girls. The eldest residents often congregated around a bonfire. Dagar approached the perimeter, sitting on a felled tree. Victor eventually joined him, uninterested in the women.
Dagar finally pointed. “See the wee one over there? I admire the way her mouth moves when she talks, the tinkle of her laughter.” Just then, she pulled a flask from beneath her cloak, took a drink, and offered it to the girl standing next to her. “She may be the one.”
“You mean the first?”
Dagar jabbed him in the ribs.
How many times had Victor sat with his cousin, who was contented to stare at the same girls getting drunk every year? What enjoyment was there in watching women transform into screeching banshees depending on how many swigs they took? Although the gossip was indeed humorous.
“I’d appreciate if you’d be quick about choosing—Odin knows you’ll be quick about the act itself.”
His cousin frowned. “Are you questioning my ability to please a woman?”
Victor shook his head. “I’d rather not think about it at all. Unless you need instruction.”
Dagar shook his head, then stood, puffing out his chest. “Let me demonstrate my prowess so you can witness it first-hand. I’ll not have you spreading lies about me…”
